The central organ of vertebrates. The main function of the heart is to provide power for blood flow and to move blood to all parts of the body. The human heart is located in the middle of the chest to the lower left. It is about the size of a fist and weighs about 250 grams. The human heart is shaped like a peach, located above the diaphragm, between the lungs and to the left. In September 2022, Australian researchers found a 0.38 billion-year-old heart in the fossilized jaw fish.
